Everyday Hero: Tom Duffy

We’ve all heard the old adage “not all heroes wear capes”. Pretty much, that means that people can do heroic things without having a superpower or require the flare that is generally associated with heroism. These types of heroes are generally known as “everyday heroes “or “unsung heroes.” You probably know a few people who fall into this category, and you most likely see other ones every day. Whether it’s firefighters, a charitable business, or the polite tall person who grabs something off of the top shelf for you, everyday heroes are everywhere.

Tom Duffy was one of these kinds of heroes. Tom and his family were devoted to helping with tasks, no matter the scale. Over the course of the COVID quarantine, he and his family arranged weekly trash pickup sessions to make the area as clean and litter-free as possible. He operated multiples businesses, employing hundreds of different types of employees, some who couldn’t get a chance anywhere else. Even in his last moments, he was performing acts of heroism, as he was using his helicopters to help extinguish some of the worst fires this country has ever seen. In our eyes, Tom was the very definition of an “everyday hero”.

Everyone has heroes that they regard in this fashion, and we would love to hear about them. No matter how minute they may seem to other people, we would love to hear about your everyday heroes, be it a person or a business.
